MODEL UN
Global leadership is about empowerment.
My global learning journey with FIU's Model United Nations team began my freshman year in the Fall 2017 semester. I joined because I wanted to gain essential skills in public speaking, research, and writing that would help me become a better leader while expanding my understanding of "how the United Nations works."

Throughout my time as an FIU Model UN Delegate, I greatly developed my global awareness. Competing in committees such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Organization of American States (OAS), and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) allowed me to delve into foreign policy from the perspective of countries outside of the United States. Not only did I engage my passion for international development through experiential learning, but I also competed alongside individuals from all over the globe at prestigious universities such as Harvard University.

I learned that global leadership is not about demanding change. Rather, it is about empowering leaders through intentional, systemic policy solutions that provide them with greater capacity to address their development challenges.
