REFLECTION
As a Global Learning student at FIU, I truly feel that I have gained global perspective and awareness while participating in local and international problem solving through global engagement. I have used the knowledge learned in my discipline-specific Global Learning courses to propel my desire to be an agent of change in my community, both at home and abroad. Through GL Initiatives, I was lucky to participate in an internship with the International Rescue Committee that allowed me to directly work with displaced communities and provide them with the tools they need for self-sufficiency.
As a Global Learning student, I have gained essential skills in intercultural communication and broadened my global perspective by engaging with diverse students, traveling outside of my comfort zone, and working towards solutions for the world's most pressing development challenges. I have become a global citizen through the experiences offered to me as an Honors College and Global Learning student, through courses such as Diplomacy Lab and study abroad.
Post-graduation, I plan on pursuing a career at a global organization dedicated to advancing sustainable development through inclusive economic growth and the reduction of gender disparities in education and employment. After gaining work experience in the field, I will pursue a Master's degree in International Development to continue my education and work towards a career at an international development institution such as the World Bank or the Inter-American Development Bank.
I am confident that my experiences at FIU will serve me well in my future career path, and I am grateful for the opportunities awarded to me by the Global Learning program.
